Prohibited Items

Last updated

This policy is part of our Terms and Conditions and Seller Terms. It applies to everything listed, sold, bought, promoted, or paid for on Rille, including on storefront links, in posts, in chat, and through Ask Rille.

1.About This PolicyLink to this section

You may only offer items and services that are legal to sell in Nigeria and in the place they are delivered to. The lists below are examples, not a complete list. Where something is not listed but is illegal, unsafe, or harmful, or we reasonably believe it puts our users or Rille at risk, it is not allowed. We decide whether an item breaks this policy, and we may update it at any time.

2.Prohibited ItemsLink to this section

These may not be listed or sold on Rille under any circumstances:

  • Drugs: illegal drugs and controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, prescription-only medicines, codeine and tramadol products, and any medicine not registered with NAFDAC.
  • Weapons: firearms, ammunition, parts and accessories, explosives and fireworks, and weapons designed to injure, including knives sold as weapons, stun guns, and pepper spray.
  • Counterfeit and infringing goods: fake or replica branded goods, pirated software, films, music, games, and books, and anything that infringes someone’s copyright, trade mark, or other rights.
  • Stolen goods, and goods you do not have the right to sell.
  • People and body parts: human remains, organs, blood, or fluids, and any form of human trafficking or exploitation.
  • Adult content: pornography, sexual services, and any content that sexualises minors.
  • Wildlife: endangered or protected animals and plants and products made from them, such as ivory and pangolin scales, and live animals.
  • Hazardous materials: toxic, flammable, or radioactive substances, and pesticides or chemicals banned in Nigeria.
  • Recalled or unsafe products, and goods that do not meet mandatory Nigerian safety standards.
  • Documents and identity: government IDs, passports, licences, certificates, and uniforms of the police, military, or other agencies, real or fake, and personal data about other people.
  • Financial products: cash, foreign currency, gift cards or vouchers sold for cash, cryptocurrency or tokens, investment or savings schemes, loans, and anything that lets someone move money outside Rille.
  • Accounts and access: social media, gaming, bank, or Rille accounts, login details, hacking tools, malware, and SIM cards registered to someone else.
  • Gambling: lottery tickets, betting slips, raffles, and paid prize draws.
  • Hate and violence: items that promote hatred, terrorism, or violence against any person or group.

3.Restricted ItemsLink to this section

These may only be sold by verified shops that hold the licence or registration the law requires, and comply with every condition on it. We may ask for proof at any time and remove the listing if it is not provided.

  • Alcohol, sold only to adults aged 18 or over, with age checked on delivery.
  • Tobacco, vapes, and nicotine products, sold only to adults aged 18 or over.
  • Food, drinks, supplements, cosmetics, and over-the-counter medicines, which must carry valid NAFDAC registration where required, be within date, and be stored and delivered safely.
  • Used electronics, which must be described honestly and must not be stolen or blacklisted.
  • Agricultural and veterinary products, seeds, and fertilisers, where they are regulated.
  • Event tickets, sold only by the organiser or with their permission.

4.Prohibited ServicesLink to this section

The rules above apply to services too. In addition, services may not include: anything requiring a professional licence the provider does not hold (such as medical, legal, or financial advice); academic cheating; fake reviews, followers, or engagement; debt collection by threats; or any service that is illegal or that exploits people.

5.Prohibited PracticesLink to this section

  • Asking or taking payment outside Rille for an item listed on Rille, or giving bank details in chat.
  • Listing an item you do not have, misleading photos or descriptions, or fake “was” prices.
  • Bait listings, duplicate listings, or putting items in the wrong category to avoid these rules.
  • Fake reviews, reviewing your own shop, or paying for reviews.
  • Using hashtags, names, or images of brands you do not sell to attract buyers.

6.What Happens If You Break This PolicyLink to this section

We may remove a listing or post without notice, cancel and refund affected orders, hold payouts connected to it as set out in the Seller Terms, limit or suspend the shop or account, and report it to the police or the relevant regulator where the law requires or we believe it is needed. Repeated or serious breaches lead to a permanent ban. Where we act, we will tell you the reason where we can lawfully do so, and you can ask us to review the decision at hello@rille.ng.

7.Reporting a ListingLink to this section

If you see something that breaks this policy, report it from the listing or post in the app, or email hello@rille.ng with a link. If you own rights in something being sold without permission, send us the listing link, details of your rights, and your contact details, and we will review it.
